The Shepherd's Hut

For a really rustic getaway you can stay in our unique shepherd's hut nestled in the little orchard some 30m from the farmhouse. The shepherd's hut has a charm and character all of it's own. It feels more like a cabin with its warm wooden interior, eclectic and vintage furnishings and wood burning stove. It is a self contained, self-catering space for complete privacy and has everything you could need for a stay of a few days or more, including a shower room, a 'fridge and small oven/hob. The brass bed is made up with pure cotton or linen sheets and there is a stack of good books to dip into.

Whether you want a base from which you can explore beautiful East Sussex, or a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of life for a few days so that you can get on with writing that novel that you can never find the time for, or to take some real time out to tuck into some good books without being disturbed, the shepherd's hut could be just the place for you.

We provide fresh coffee, tea, fresh milk in your 'fridge and a selection of condiments so that you don't have to bring the basics when you come to stay. There are also growing pots of fresh herbs outside the door for you to cook with.

If you are coming by car, we have plently of free parking space. If you are coming by train, we suggest that you go to Polegate station as there is a good Co-Op supermarket right outside the station next to the 24hr taxi rank, so that you can stock up with supplies. Once you are here there is a great village shop and cafe in Upper Dicker (half a mile down the road) which sells everything from stamps to groceries and alcohol and the cafe serves delicious hot food from early morning until 2.30pm. For evening meals, if you don't want to cook, there is the village pub, The Plough (about a mile down the road), which is a lovely, characterful country pub serving really good food seven days a week until 9pm (8pm on Sundays). There are lots of other great pubs and places of interest to visit nearby. To find out more click on the links to their websites on the home page of this website.
