We are opening the doors to our self-catering accommodation from Saturday 1st August 2020.
What a time it has been! Although lockdown will have been different for everyone, it has given us all time to think and re-evaluate the way we live. Now we are all being urged to get back to some sort of 'normal' for the sake of the economy and our collective well-being. However, many people are feeling a bit trepidatious about how to step into a 'new normality' which bears no resemblance to the way things were that we took for granted at the start of 2020.
Summer is now well and truly here and the holiday season is upon us, but where do we go? Flying abroad for a holiday might seem a step too far for some people at the moment, however the idea of getting away from it all, or relaxing for a few days with friends or family is very appealing.
We've been thinking about how you might want to spend your holiday this year and so we decided to make some changes to the layout of the B&B side of the farmhouse. You can now have exclusive use of this side of the farmhouse on a self-catering basis for a week or longer.
The accommodation sleeps eight in the house (and two more in the double brass bed in our cosy shepherd's hut if you want to rent this separately). In the house there are three double ensuite bedrooms and an attic twin room with a shower. There is also a large living-dining room/kitchen which leads out to the garden.
Starnash Farmhouse is a great place for a get-away-from-it-all holiday where you can just relax, surrounded by countryside, safe in the knowledge that you're not going to bump into anyone if you don't want to. We like to live a simple life here, so we make sourdough bread every day, keep a few hens for fresh eggs, grow some fruit and vegetables, forage for what we can and make our own country wines and cider in the autumn. We've got a couple of pigs at the moment too. If you want to get a taste of how to live a slower, simpler life then this is the place to stay. We'll stay out of your way but you might see us pottering around in the distance, weeding the veg patch. We're always happy to have a chat about life and stuff.
But if the weather is hot, you may prefer to just roll up your beach towels and head to the seaside!
We're ideally located for all that Sussex has to offer, whatever the season. There is something for everybody, from the stunning countryside and quaint villages serving a chilled tipple in pretty pub gardens to the glittering sea views and vibrant seaside towns dotted along the Sussex coast. There's plenty of parking space at Starnash Farmhouse and you can walk or cycle to our village of Upper Dicker where you can buy delicious provisions for a picnic in the wonderful Village Shop/cafe, or go to our 'local', The Plough Inn, for a fabulous meal and some fine wines.
